Virginia Beach, VA; Santa Monica, CA August 19, 2004 -- Announcing the United States' first coast to coast scooter rally, Cannonball Run 2004. September 12-21, a diverse group of scooterists will make a trip of over 3100 miles from Virginia Beach, VA to the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, CA. This is the first cross-continental, all-riding scooter rally, with participants from all corners of America riding approximately 300 miles daily, rain or shine.

Route
The route will take the rally from Virginia Beach to Richmond, down the Blue Ridge Parkway (and the Tail of the Dragon, one of the most challenging roads for motorbikes), near Knoxville, to Chattanooga, then Memphis, past Little Rock, to Oklahoma City, through Amarillo, on Route 66 to Albequerque, then on to Flagstaff, Twentynine Palms, and finally Santa Monica.

Participants
Several riders will be participating in the entire trans-continental journey; many more will be riding locally along the Cannonball Run route. Participants hail from across the country, from such varied states as Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and California. To ride in the Cannonball Run, scooterists must simply have a scooter capable of making a cross-country journey, the desire and the time to do it.
